canuckinaustria
I am located in Europe for the next little while, and am curious about getting a repair done on what is seeming to be a PTU problem (my car shifts heavily from first to second occasionally). My question is: will the warranty from the factory (I bought the car in Canada from Ford, and brought it with me) cover the cost?

My question is: will the warranty from the factory (I bought the car in Canada from Ford, and brought it with me) cover the cost? Warranty should cover it but the question is who can do the repair? BTW the PTU has nothing to do with shifting - it sends power to the rear wheels only.

akirby
Do you know what might cause the heavy shifting? Could be low fluid, the valve body or an internal problem. No way to tell without testing it.

Marccom
the technical matters of the ford edge are not so really strange for an europe Ford technician. Edge has Duratec 35 engine. the Duratec engine familiy is known in Europe from Ford Maverick/Escape (Duratec 30) and Ford Mondeo (Duratec 25 and 30) the transmission is the 6F. this transmission itself is unknown in europe right...but not so strange and different to its predecessors that a europe mechanic couldnt handle that. I am not a mechanic but i guess the problem is the transmission, too. Greets Marc
