Drive train hum at all speeds, AWD 2010 Edge

Hope you all can help,

My 2010 AWD Edge has 18K and one day it started to have a drive train Hum. The sound is like I went out and put a severe set of knobby tires on it overnight. The sound is constant, all fluids are up, no leaks, tires are all good and rotated recently. The hum is like when you were a kid and you put your lips together and made that buzzing sound like you were trying to imitate an airplane. It's not that lowd but it's driving me crazy trying to figure it out. By the way, the sound has nothing to do with the engine speed. Let your foot off or on the pedal and the sound is there. The sound goes up and down with the car rolling at all speeds.

Thanks guys,

Thanks Sparky,

I think your right. I have narrowed it down to the rear of the car. At first it was hard to tell.

I'll take it in and let you know what I find out.

Thanks again,

I don't even own an Edge yet BUT I'm looking at leasing one and my wife mentioned this to a patient of hers who is a Ford mechanic at the local dealership. When she asked if they were good cars he said, "Yes, but don't get those clad wheels. We get lots of complaints about them making noise."

If you have those 'chrome clad wheels' that might be your problem.
