jfeaga
I will be purchasing an Edge later this year...I can't wait! I am looking at the SEL Plus, with the options I am looking at the prices are around $34000 - $36000. I was curious if anyone out there has purchased an SEL Plus and if there is wiggle room on the price. I was also curious what Edge owners are paying for the SEL Plus. Thanks! I just purchased a SEL+ with back-up sensor option and paid close to sticker however, I made the deal because Ford had special finanacing that was good till late April(?) of .9% on 36 months, 1.9% on 48 months, 2.9% on 60months and gave me a very gernerous trade-in on a 1995 Villager in good condition. What I lost on haggling price, I made up for on financing and trade-in which put me well ahead of the curve, so I took the plunge. I did not think I would do any better in the Fall. I have been waiting since Fall of 2006 for this vehicle to show up and could not wait any longer!
jfeaga
Thank you for your feedback! I can certainly appreciate your excitement, I have been waiting as well. But I have to wait until the fall for financial reasons. I plan to pay cash and finance only part through my credit union. Since I have no trade-in and the 2008's will be coming out, I am hoping to snag a good deal!
sim
Just check to see what the quoted invoice price is. If you are somewhat concerned about how much the dealer is likely making order a Consumer Reports dealer pricing quote for $14 or so which lists the holdback fees. We were initially offered a good deal of $32.2k for a vehicle that was MSRP about $33.5k, plus we got it shipped in from another dealer from Atlanta, on top of this a $500 rebate for my wife being a recent graduate and the 1.9% 48 month financing. They also offered $500 over the appraised value of my trade compared to other offers i had received. Overall we made out like bandits on this deal. While we didnt pay under invoice, with all this other stuff we were doing very well. You can also check out getting the X-plan via an employee friends and family PIN which you can obtain from blueovalforums.com which is a no-haggle lowest price for this vehicle, going it alone you will have to haggle some. Whilst sales figures are improving, there is still plenty of incentive to get these vehicles moving and now there is a little more supply out there it should be possible to haggle some. Edgy Girl
Well I have a Ford employee plan price - but when I researched dealer costs - I found credible websites to be reliable. Good Luck - its a hot market, long order wait - best to get one off the lot - if you want the NAV like I do - its about 5-6 weeks on order... And they can't keep up with the orders... dune-e1
My wife and purchase our 07 Edge SEL plus that had a MSRP of $33,130 (loaded) on St. Pats day. We walk in with the printed web invoice ($31,382) for all the Edges on there lot and started from that point. We end up with the following: 1). $200 under vehicle invoice ($31,382-200 = $31,182) 2). High value for our trade 3). 12 months of free basic maintenance. 4). Free gas 5). Ford Credit low APR financing (0.9% on 36 months, 1.9% on 48 months or 2.9% on 60 months) We also walked into that dealership with competeing offer from another dealer and told them the offer. They tried hard to beat and did after a couple of hours. It takes time. Usually the longer it takes to get a deal the better it is for you (hours). Apart from the maintenance thing most of those arent hard to haggle for and often you can get them - however to get all of them is an achievement. Personally i dislike spending too long in the dealership. We got all we had within two hours of arriving, right through to signing the paperwork. Well i will say it was two hours, although those were one hour a piece on two seperate days - one to discuss, talk cash, get the trade in price and such. The second day/hour was to pick up and the car and sign the rest of the paperwork.
dune-e1
The free gas is basically two fillups (free is free). Our time to setup the deal was in three parts. 1.) Internet research to narrow down Edge vehicles choices (two at different dealers) dealer stock. 2.) Get the other dealer to tell us what he'll sell an Edge for (30 min. test drive). 3.) Visit the dealer who has the Edge we like the most and start the process. I felt walking in with potential deal with other dealer to be a good way to say "I am buying a vehicle, its up to you to convince me to buy here." The overall deal making at Part 3 took about 2.5 hours (mainly because I was talking loan guy about life stuff). I state all the above to say this, their are many way to buy a vehicle and this is the way I chose. I am quite sure other have haggled better deals and I am cool with that. I learn from every situation, next time I'll do better.
