bbedge
I bought a brand new Edge Limited 08, about 9 months ago. Well when i turn on the a/c it smells as if someone has urinated in the a/c. The smell will not go away. I live in Florida so the a/c is a must to have on. Has anyone out there had this problem?? The truck is garage kept and extremely well maintained, so i know it is not something i did to make it smell this way. Please help.

If you run totally on inside air or recirculate, you will develop mildew inside of the evaporator. Use recirculate only to cool down and then change to outside air. To get rid of the smell, put the system on outside air and spray some Lysol disinfectant into the air intake in front of the windshield. It may take several shots of the Lysol to get rid of all of the smell. Good luck
ThinLine
Change the cabin air filter and spray some "ozium" into the intake where the filter goes behind the glovebox. I have the same smell at first but it goes away after a/c runs for a few minutes. Sadly, others have tried this and it had little to no effect on the odor. I have never had a car a/c to smell from mildew. I never knew that was a cabin air filter. Are they on all cars?? I feel silly even asking that question! Thanks guys for the answers, i will try them ALL, cuase this air STINKS!

Here's a nice long thread about the cabin filter including instructions on changing it and the Ford part # http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/2967-cabin-air-filter-location/ You'll be amazed at how dirty  it is!! ab

None I know of other than disassembly and actually seeing what is causing the smell.
