da0023
Due to an error on my part, I have ruined the black exterior plastic on the bottom of my doors. Does anyone know how to remove these and where can I find some replacements? I have already found some OEM Ford parts sites that carry these pieces, but for some reason they will no ship them. Thanks in advance.

da0023
can you tell us what you did so we don't do the same. How the piece got ruined is that the DOT are repaving some roads close by. And so my wife picked up some tar on the bottom black piece of the door. I was trying to remove it with some bug/tar remover and wash rag with no avail. I then tried goo gone and wash rag with still no help. I then went into the house a grabbed a green scotch pad and starting scrubbing, needless to say it did the job and then some. After I got all the tar off and re-rinsed the area, I noticed that everywhere I scrubbed with the scotch pad, also "grayed" the plastic. I then spent the rest of the afternoon trying to get the "gray" spots off with no avail. So i called it quits and started looking at other options, so here I am. igcitng
I read that mayonaise takes bugs and tar off. If you order some new ones from the Ford parts dept they would likely tell you how to replace them.

It is supposed to restore the luster of all black plastic finishes. I will give this a try first before I go to the stealership. Thanks again.
