Due to an error on my part, I have ruined the black exterior plastic on the bottom of my doors. Does anyone know how to remove these and where can I find some replacements? I have already found some OEM Ford parts sites that carry these pieces, but for some reason they will no ship them. Thanks in advance.

Cant help on the removal but is painting an option?

Also, you gotta tell us what happened. Might save one of us from the same problem. And it could be entertaining. :D

i would rather remove and replace. How the price got ruined is that the DOT are repaving some roads close by. And so my wife picked up some tar on the bottom black piece of the door. I was trying to remove it with some bug/tar remover and wash rag with no avail. I then tried goo gone and wash rag with still no help. I then went into the house a grabbed a green scotch pad and starting scrubbing, needless to say it did the job and then some. After I got all the tar off and re-rinsed the area, I noticed that everywhere I scrubbed with the scotch pad, also "grayed" the plastic. I then spent the rest of the afternoon trying to get the "gray" spots off with no avail. So i called it quits and started looking at other options, so here I am.

Instead of replacing the plastic or painting it, there's a product available at your local auto parts store called "BLACK BACK"--- made for exactly what you did.

If you want to replace the plastic, it will be mostley destroyed in removal. The new piece will come with all the necessary clips you need to do the new installation.

Don't ask how I know----

thanks flyer. I will look for the "Black Box" you speak. If for some reason I can't find it, where is the best place to order a new panel? Thanks again!

Here is some stuff I have used on my sons old Honda. It lasts for a year or so. http://www.topoftheline.com/bumtrimrec.html

This is "Forever Black". The Back to Black is a dreessing that washes off while the Forever Black is more like a dye. It wipes off painted surfaces but it will stain your hands. Good stuff....

I don't think any of the above products mentioned will help.

Since you used a scotch pad and scratched the surface a product that removes oxidation won't do you any good.

Looks like each lower door panel will run you about $60. At least you learned a lesson and this is something you wont be doing again.
