HELP NEEDED

Recommended Posts

I need some help. My wife noticed while driving behind me that all my rear lights were out. The LED brake light worked but nothing else. I checked the fuses and #23 the tail lamp fuse was blown. I replaced the 15A fuse with a new one and that one immediately blew out. I lost two more before I totally disconnected the trailer light harness. Guess what? Didnt do a thing, and I lost two more fuses. What could be shorting out the rear lights? Both running and brake light bulbs are still good. The trailer wiring harness isnt connected and im at a loss. Am i missing another fuse somewhere?

Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated.

Nothings been added, and like I said earlier, the wiring that tapped into the tail lights was totally disconnected in case that was the cause and apparently its not because I keep blowing fuses....

(Dumbfounded...):banghead:

I'd remove both bulbs then try another fuse.. if this doesn't work take a multimeter and look for one of the wires that may be shorted to ground somewhere.

did the problem start right after the trailer wiring was installed? is it a plug and play kit, or spliced in? a lot of times, the (smash type) quick splice type fittings can cause shorts between two wires (even after it was removed)

does it blow from just the tail lights being on? or only when the brake lights go on? if you can figure that out, you know what circuit is causing a problem
