killawhalen
Hey Guys, I recently got an updated DVD for the navigation system in my 2007 Edge SEL +. When I tried the new DVD, I got an error message about how the system could not read the DVD. I tried ejecting it and reinserting it several times, but I always receive the same error. Now, even when I try to insert my original 4P DVD into the slot, I receive the invalid DVD error message. Both the new and old DVDs can be read with my laptop's DVD drive. Is there another step I need to perform, other than just putting in the new DVD? Any ideas?
HTE007KDS
I have a 2007 Edge AWD SEL. I have the same issue with my navigation system. I have version 4P nav dvd. One day drive down the road and my nav displayed a message saying "There was an error the dvd maybe dirty. Try cleaning it.". I took the dvd out. It was clean. I wiped it anyway and inserted the disk back in the nav unit. But I got the same error. I called Ford navigation tech support 1-800-565-3673. The tech said I should try a inserting a more recent version of the nab dvd. The dvd cost 199.00. The kicker is you cannot return it if you open it. killawhalen, what version of the dvd did you purchase?

bamaredwingsfan
did you by chance try a DVD lens cleaner disk and try cleaning the lens on your player? I tried two different cleaner disks, and i get the same disk dirty error. I even went at far as to download a torrent of the 8p disk for my 07 edge, and it gave me the same error. I removed the burned disk, and later tried it again, and it loaded up an installed the 8p disk, worked for about 2 miles on the road, and then game me the dirty disk error again. Loaded the old 4p disk back into the system, and had to confirm that i wanted to overwrite the newer software, and so far the old disk is working again. I honestly believe its the player going bad IMO. That was stupid for ford to go with a system that was disk based to begin with. I was liking my edge, but here in the last 500 miles of the warrenty going out, the panorama roof is tore up, and now the navigation system is going in the tank as well! My sunshade became unglued on the tracks, and it wants to wad up when you try to open the roof
Lex Talionis
hey.. but it IS in warranty BTW, I think at the time, wasn't disk based navi pretty common standard for cars?

I just repeated the process starting with the ignition off, key out and opening and shutting the door (to assure I was backing out of the system entirely). it worked on the 4th try. Miller07
I am having the same problem so I went to the dealer. After installing a brand new 9P disc & it still didn't work they had to replace the entire unit because it has something to do with the reader. Thank God it's still under warranty.
