TheCanadian
Does some one have a MPG to L/KM conversion table? I looked at the Canadian Fuel Consumptin Guide ( FCG ) and it seems they compare it to UK and not US! Conversion between litres per 100 kilometres and miles per gallon To convert L/100 km into mi./gal. or mi./gal. into L/100 km, use the following formulas: L/100 km = 282.48 mi./gal. mi./gal. = 282.48 L/100 km Note: 4.546 L = 1 imperial gallon CAUTION ON USING U.S. FUEL ECONOMY DATA Fuel efficiency ratings in Canada and the United States are similar but are not directly comparable. U.S. fuel economy ratings are listed in miles per U.S. gallon (20 percent smaller than an imperial gallon) and are based on U.S. vehicle sales and adjustment factors. AK-Kayaker
Here is a good site with lots of metric conversion tools, and as luck would have it they just added fuel economy conversion. I keep this site in my favorites very useful. http://www.sciencemadesimple.com/conversions.html

I follow your math, but its not 100% clear. I know i am saying the same thing as you are, but i wanted to present it another way - as well as presenting the US Gal numbers as most folks on here use that or L/100km anyway (not many Brits around - at least not measuring in Imp Gal. The two forms of measurement are inverse one is distance over fuel, the other is fuel over distance. That is 10L/100km=23.52MP(US)G/28.25MP(Imp.)G and 15L/100km=15.68MP(US)G/18.83MP(Imp.)G - ie as one goes up the other side goes down and vice versa. Personally i would work it out as: MP(US)G=235.2/(xL/100km) and conversely L/100km=235.2/(xMP(US)G) MP(Imp.)G=282.5/(xL/100km) and L/100km=282.5/(xMP(Imp.)G) Maybe what the original needed was some underlining to show what you meant? I couldnt quite get the tabular look until just now. Such as: MP(US)G= 235.2 L/100km and vice versa - although it still doesnt look clear in that way. That is divide the numerator (235.2 or 282.5) by your mileage reading/calculation denominator (in MPG or L/100km) to find the mileage in the other currency. Check it out with the above examples of 10 and 15 L/100km. Conversely 15MP(US)G would calculate to 15.68L/100km and 20MP(US)G would be 11.76L/100km.
