Lovemyfordedge
I had noticed that my passenger side puddle lamp wasn't working and decided to fool around w/it thinking I can replace the bulb. I did this before looking up the facts about puddle lamp issues in this forum. Needles to say, I broke the lens (lens broke off from the rest of the unit/one piece puddle lamp). I thought at first it was normal for it to come off that way and tried to remove the bulb. Well, to my surprise the light then started working again (but later stopped again). I moved the remaining dangling piece inside & it seems as though it is shorting out somehow. Anyway, I paid the $55 for a new puddle lamp unit but want to make sure I know what I'm doing when I intall it. Can somebody please give me details on how to do this? Am I supposed to fish out the remaining piece inside the mirror? It is difficult to do b/c it seems like it's bigger than the whole that the lens pops into. I tried asking the ford parts guy I ordered the part from but he wasn't very helpful and kept refering to the diagram he had blown up. It doesn't show very much detail about the puddle lamp unit. Thank you for any help you may offer. BTW I did a search on this forum relating to my issue but couldn't find a discussion w/enough detail that would make me comfortable to do it myself. Explain it to me as though I am a two year old....
