flyerjmr33
And a tiny part of me wonders if it is a hoax of some kind . . . With a second one right in line? igcitng
With a second one right in line? My man servant let it runaway! That second one in NY is titled "I can't trade it in so I am going to pay my likely unlicensed servant to accidentally total it".

1fordan
Thank you for the info. Every car should have brake override then. It's like we advance and fall behind at the same time with technology. Correct, we as in 'you' would bef falling behind if you allowed a car to get out of control. You simply turn the ignition off, and the car will roll to a stop:)
igcitng
Great article... http://www.caranddri...ation-tech_dept That is a good article. One question I have is why the police officer in the Lexus did not know what to do? It is unfortunate and somewhat explains why untrained civilians do not know what to do. And their test results are interesting. It is almost as if when the Toyota accelerates on it's own the brakes become useless, but under controlled conditions with a properly working vehicle the brakes do override the throttle. Paul79UF
Did anyone else catch that article in Motor Trend or Car & Driver where they tested 5-6 cars to see if the brakes could over power the engine at WOT. Every car was able to stop with the gas pedal stuck at WOT. It only took the Steeda or Saleen Mustang a significant amount of distance to stop the car.
