ClaytonM
Just a thought...I'm thinking about having Line-X professionally sprayed on my back bumper. Just on the top and slightly over the edge. What do you think it would look like? I saw a Jeep the other day with it sprayed all over the bottom half of the sides and it didn't look that bad. I think it would protect it real well and look good. I also was thinking about going to lowes and getting the DIY herculiner to save a few bucks. Edgieguy
No way! 2 years lots of loading and no scratches. What are you worried about? Paint is durable? How awful will your rear bumper look once you paint it? How about clear paint protection? http://www.clearbump...CFYha2godligSkA or something to hang out while loading? http://www.bumperbul...cs_gallery.html http://chariotauto.com/ Or go cheap. I have a thick piece of vinyl thats always folded in the back of the Edge. If im loading something in (clean or dirty) I open up the vinyl, lay it right over the rear bumper and load in, then i flip the end up over the load to keep the inside of the rear hatch protected from rubbing during transport.I believe i got the piece of vinyl i have at an upholstery place, its a 4x7 remnant piece Edited February 20, 2010 by Edgieguy

ClaytonM
I'm in a wheelchair, so I need a little bit more protection that anything I have found on the market. The protector I bought from Ford barely covers just the top and is THIN! When I load stuff in my car alot of times it is coming from my lap or from the ground and I scrape my bumper like crazy. I already have a HUGE gash on the left side from loading a box the other day. I need something that goes a little past the backup sensors and the only way I know how to do that is to have something custom made. I had those clear things on my last car and they do not last at all.
kempie
Ya, if you already have a scratch the herc. or linex would be the way to go. A pro application, IMO would be the way to go as that Herc stuff is a real bitch to work with.
igcitng
There is a thread on here about how the Scion xB bumper protector fits the Edge very well, and it is thick and tough and looks really nice. I am really happy with mine. It covers the entire area in front of the rear opening.
hoss66
Don't use the herculiner, you will regret it if you do. If you choose to do the line x i would recommend the line x extra. It doesn't fade and get that chalky look, they can also color match your vehicles paint.
