Buying an Edge soon

Hello, I am a senior in high school in Florida, I currently drive a 2006 Toyota Solara with thousands of dollars worth of mods, but I am moving to Utah and want 4x4 or AWD.

After looking for a long time for the right car, I realized the Edge would be perfect for me as it is a great looking car, has alot of room, and gets great gas, and of course comes with the AWD option.

Now, what should i know before purchasing an Edge? what do you wish you knew before buying one?

One thing to note is that I will probably be able to afford new, because my neighbor owns a Ford dealership and is going to hook me up.

Here are some pictures of my Solara.

I like our Edge.

Two things to consider:

1. The AWD have PTU problems (but it looks like a permanent fix is now available).

2. Get the sun roof. The roof rails are too close together to do much of anything with so if you plan on putting things up top you'll have to go aftermarket anyway.

VERY minor issues but retrospect I would have gone bamr top.

AWD is very different from 4x4 and in Utah you might want to think 4x4 F150.

Now for the question back to you...what mods do you have in mind for the Edge?

I have considered the F150, but the gas mileage is what attracted me to the Edge, also I think the Edge will be cheaper, though im not sure.

If i got the Edge i was planning on getting an intake (only one ive seen so far is the Weapon R), Magnaflow exhaust system, 22 inch rims, 2 12" subwoofers, and eventually the 3D carbon body kit.

Don't waste your money on an aftermarket intake. The stock unit is set up to allow for better air flow.

All the aftermarket units i've seen for the Edge pull in warm air from the engine.

If you're going to eventually put on a body kit and 22" wheels why not get an Edge Sport?

I will probably start off with that, but having aftermarket rims means alot to me. Im not sure exactly what sizes look good on the Edge, but i dont like "rubber band" tires, I like a little bit of a sidewall.

and the aftermarket air intake will give a much better sound, and i beleive its an SRI which will be warmer air, but it wont have to travel as far.

you would be better off getting the Edge Sport with the 22" wheels, the tires have a decent sidewall and give a fairly good ride (for there size) if you don't like the wheels, you can still use the tires and should be able to get good money for the wheels if you sell them. The only problem with the sport is there are only 4 color choices.
