blaze u
I did'nt see it on the site, whats the part number? Will it allow me to put a 2008 ford nav. unit in a non nav. vehicle and retain sync? I've read that you lose the sync replacing a 2008 non nav. radio with a factory nav. radio. baum
Its the PAC MS-FRD1 msrp is 249.95 http://www.pac-audio.com/productDetails.aspx?ProductId=919&CategoryID=
Osiris1975
Its the PAC MS-FRD1 msrp is 249.95 http://www.pac-audio.com/productDetails.aspx?ProductId=919&CategoryID=26 I'm seriously looking into doing this. I want to put in an aftermarket nav/headunit, so I called PAC Audio, and they told me that if I wanted to retain steering wheel controls for the music functions I would also have to get this depending on which unit I put in. http://www.pac-audio.com/productDetails.aspx?ProductId=207&CategoryID=29 If you have done this install, can you confirm this? The description for the PAC MS-FRD1 says retains all steering wheel controls but I'm not sure if they mean just the controls related to SYNC. securinu
yes you will need a steering wheel interface of some sort . http://www.pac-audio.com/PACProductData/MS-FRD1/1_Instructions/ms-frd1_instructions_120809.pdf look at the top right of diagram on page 1 and middle of page
baum
Osiris1975: depending on the radio you get, it may come with bluetooth and ipod/usb connections. I would figure out a radio and see if it has those. if it does there is another harness out there that will give you the nav wires for $70.00. Then you can add the wheel controls to this. Only downfall to this i can see is that then the bluetooth is controlled through the radio so that button on the wheel will not work. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12926_Axxess+XSVI-5520.html?gclid=CNjHjeea1p8CFRTyDAodtAtfdg

So it seems this setup is possible. Will mull it over, I'm a bit reluctant about losing the 6 disc front loading changer in the stock setup because I listen to audio books from the library and they come on many discs. Mattmilw
If I am understanding this product correctly, for an Edge, it uses its own LCD display and controls for SYNC, Bluetooth and SAT radio info. The display appears to one line only. Is this correct? Does any of the SAT radio info (Title, Artist) appear on the head unit's display? Thanks. securinu
no all info is on the little screen. as for the steering wheel controls yes it retains them with the appropriate interface. I love this unauthorized sites that sell parts they have no clue what it is or what it does. Non-Amplified, Non-OnStar Harness to Retain Accessory Power for Select 2007 Ford/Lincoln Vehicles when did ford get Onstar??? Friggin morons.
