I have an 08 without the navigation system, so pretty much Sync is only capable of music, phone and maintenance updates, and I did upgrade to the 911 assist. My questions are: is the update giving me something I did not have before or is it just an update to keep the version current, and also, with the 911 assist, can you use it for calling for help outside of having a front end crash and it automatically calling for you? If so, is there an easy way or is it better to just use the phone? I have never had luck voice dialing with it, not sure why. Thanks for any info. If you have a crash where the air bags deploy, it will dial 911--- there would possibly be times where you would be disabled and having it do the automatic call may be the only way to communicate. Of course it does. I was referring to the question of whether it could be done manually in case the vehicle didn't trigger it automatically and the answer is yes because you can dial 911 manually very easily which is what Sync would do.
