flyerjmr33
Unfortunately, my slightly used Edge did not have the satellite radio option built in. I have been an XM radio user for several years and after looking over the availability of having a-la-carte service from Sirius, decided that a change was in order. 50 stations for $6.99--- helluva lot better than buying all the available stations and using only a few! So, I buy the hardware from Ratshack--- $49-- Install it in my '08 edge and now the fun starts. I call the toll free number to activate---and get someone in Egypt. He starts out speaking OK English and when it got down to having him deviate from his standard spiel, he no longer speaks English--- I tell him to get me a supervisor in the US-- he says wait-- and promptly disconnects us. Call number 2 went about the same but this time I got a Phillipino--- I finally had to hang up on her because all she wanted to do was talk about what programs they had and I already knew what I wanted. Third call was answered by a female in Central America and I immediately told her goodbye--please get me anyone in the USA. Finally, she did and a fellow from the Mid-west finally got me up and running. I should have done all of it on line. I had to go on line to pick out my stations for the ALACARTE program anyway and then make a 5th call to get it all running correctly! I don't know how I ever got these things done before I retired and had all day to do them!
igcitng
I got the first XM radio that came out in 2004. Had it installed and it never worked. A few years ago I get another and hooked it up and it blew out my electrical. Had everything removed to be sure it would not happen again. So now I use it here at work with a boom box, which is great but Sirius took over XM and changed the programming and now I can barely stand it. There are no commericals, but the dj's talk way too much and they do stupid little skits in between songs and they don't play a lot of the good stuff XM used to. I am keeping it for Chrismas music then not renewing in January. So when I bought my Edge it had 6 free months of XM. I used it and did not renew it. So then guess what? CONSTANT phone calls to renew. Sometimes twice a day. Once I anwered by accident and could not get rid of the guy, tried to explain to him that it so happened the truck would be parked for almost two months and I did not want to discuss it and he did not get it. Buy an iPod and spend the money on music that you won't have to spend money on year after year. That is what I did. No talky talky to listen to either. And much easier to use in the car. I had your experience with a Dell computer representative. And this country's unemployment rate is what?!

We each have our likes and I kinda like the fact that I can have some talk radio stations along with music and comedy-- I didn't buy thr RAP or Hard Rock or the religious stuff--- I really like it and it sounds better than the XM I had!
