manny
Recently I noticed my head lights still on even thought it's daylight (automatic mode position). I always keep my switch in an automatic mode. But, now I have to keep it off on daytime. Is there any effect of tapping or connecting LED in a parallel connection? Because, I connected a LED light and there was no problem earlier. Now, the headlights and LED are on during daytime, when it was on the automatic mode. I have to switch it to off position during daytime. Your comments are highly appreciated. Thanks,

Thanks, This may sound dumb, but when I had that problem some years ago it was caused by me throwing things up on the dashboard that covered up the eye that controls the lights on/off! I insisted it was not. To make a long story short, while fixing another problem a few weeks later that they knew I was pissed off about the service manager whom I had the argument with about the auto lights triumphantly proclaimed that they had repaired the auto headlight problem. It seems, on the Windstar anyway, that the accepted practice was to mount the sensor in the dash before the top pad was installed. After installation of the sensor, the top of the dash was then installed which included some well placed raps on the pad with a rubber mallet to seat the clips. It seems that they found out later that this was knocking the connector off of the sensor and when in doubt the headlights would fail on when the switch was in the auto position. I TOLD them they were screwed up. Service Manager still got his butt chewed because they destroyed the steering wheel while replacing the clock spring..........but that's another story. Needless to say, I did not purchase our new MKX from that dealer.
blockisle9
Are you sure its the headlights and not the day time running lights? My 08 has the day time running lights.
ThinLine
I dont have DRL's but I believe they would still be on even with the selector in the off position. Cars sold in Canada have to have the DRL's activated by law.
blockisle9
Yes mine stay on with the selector switch in the off position as long as the car is in drive, as soon as I put the car in park the day time running lights turn off. Shackelford
Yes mine stay on with the selector switch in the off position as long as the car is in drive, as soon as I put the car in park the day time running lights turn off. I don't know about the 2007 Edge, but my 2008 Edge has the capability of DRL's. It is just a matter of reporgramming the computer in your Edge. All Canadian Edges must have DRL's. It is an option in the US. I want DRL's as I drive a lot of rural two lane highways. All the dealer did was to reprogram the computer, and now I have DRL's. It is possible that your Edge is set up that way. Yeah, when you stop and put it in park, the DRL's turn off.
Manny Domingues
I have a 07 Edge and just had the DRL's activated by the dealer service dept. They at first argued that the vehicle did not have an option for DRL but after bringing in a couple of screen prints from this forum and other forums regarding this same topic they called their Service Tech support number and somebody at Ford HQ told them how to go into the Computer and activate the feature. 1duFos
I have a question about the Auto head light. When my head light switch is on auto and when I open my door the warning chime does not go off even thou the lights are still on. If I turn the switch to the on position than the chimes warns me the head lights are on. I don't think this is right? My last car had auto head lights and if I open my door the warning chime sounds. Does this happen to your vrhicle? I will read the manual in the mean time. Thanks Ron

If the lights are on Auto they'll AUTOmatically turn off, so there is nothing to warn about. All explained in the OM.

All explained in the OM. I didn't wait long enough for the lights to turn off automatically, All is OK as there wasn't anything wrong in the first place.
