klc317
In my search to find a convenient and somewhat decent looking way to mount my Escort detector in our MKX I came up with this. Found some grey phone line laying around that matched the interior and is basicly the same as the power cord for an Escort detector, tested 12V routing in the phone line to find a combination of wires that would power the detector, added a mini-fuse "add-a-circuit" + a 1A fuse to an unused iginition switched 12V source in the fuse panel and tucked everything away. Just need to hide the wire a bit more but it does look fairly good and easy to remove when we don't need it in the car. Too bad the connection on the detector isn't on the other side. Thought this might be helpful to any of you who would like to try it this way.
DevilBuckeye
I have the same one and I mounted it up next to teh rear view mirror. All teh wires are completely hidden. Just my preference, but I think yours looks ok too. Just not sure if its not so discrete with teh cops.
ablb
I’m with DevilBuckeye but I bought one of these https://www.escortradar.com/store/direct-wi...rtcord-red.html mounted it above the map lights, powered it of off a hot lead that goes to the mirror and ran the wire to the left corner. ab
Lex Talionis
clean. I am a big fan of visor or high mount like ablb personally, but yours is clean. since you cannot really hid that wire any more since it needs to come around the detector, get yourself some 1/8 black split loom and it will be cleaner and not a bright white wire. klc317
I'll probably move it up towards the roof. I drove it today and find it kinda hard to reach where it is. Easy enough to do.
klc317
Redid it. Ran the phone cable (hidden) up behind the A-pillar, front headliner and through the sun-visor opening where it screws into the roof. Picked up a visor clip for it today too. No wire at all can be seen now and is much easier to reach.
dwtc
How do you like your Escort? I have a really old one that I had direct wired, I mounted it under the rear view mirror when I had it in my Explorer, just ran the wire down from the headliner were the mirror wires were located. I like it, serves the purpose and much more reliable and well built than the cheapies. Nice Sport model Edge BTW, I love those! We looked at those but couldn't pass up the deal we got on this young MKX. Now I see the Midnight package MKXs and wish we had waited but that would have really jacked up our payment!
