Bloomer
Just wondering if anyone else got the aftermarket DVD screen in the headrests and how they're liking them? We're giving back our leased minivan that had the ceiling mounted screen and I think we're going to miss the ability to load the DVDs via the radio in the dash. Anyone know if they sound plays though the cabin or only though the headphones?
Lex Talionis
I do not have them, the only feature I did not buy as I knew I could always do them after market, but search here on that topic and you will see people that comment on both the Ford ones and after-market and no doubt, it seems you get way more bang for the buck with the after-market. only issue seems to be getting that perfect match (color and thread stitch) to your interior. There are a number of great threads here on installs and comments about some of the after market models. yeah, say good bye to dash mount dvd system

They do not fight any more and they can both watch different DVDs or the same. The sound comes out only through the head set. The navigation radio is able to play DVDs as well, but only when the car is not moving. The sound comes out from the car speakers from that one. The DVD players have build-in memory so after you shot down the car the DVD will start from the exact spot. Also the head set shut down automatically after the DVDs stops. It feel and look very well built. Good luck

Does it come with a manual?

I read yesterday that it can if the radio is tuned to a specific station. Does it come with a manual? I stand corrected. Just came from my dealership and he told me that if you with the DVDs in the headrests through Ford when it's being manufactured then the sound CAN be played through the cabin speakers, but if you go with the aftermarket one's they will only work through the headphones. My dealer said he'd check to see if it's possible to hard wire them through the radio since they haven't been installed yet. If they can't, I may choose not to have them installed as my kids are not fans of wearing headphones. Anyone out there have aftermarket DVDs that ARE wired to work through the speakers? All you need is an add-on FM transceiver to take the audio and broadcast it on an unused FM frequency. You don't need hard wires. That said - I don't know why you'd want to run the audio through the whole car.
