blumi
Hi, in our 2007 Edge we have this roof-mounted DVD system which is wired to the factory head-unit. Now we are planning to switch to a fancier aftermarket head unit and are wondering what is needed to keep the DVD system running. We found a pretty expensive adaptor with some sort of electronics in it - do we need this / do you know any alternatives? Link to adaptor EDIT: What about this one: PAC C2R-FRD1 We found out about the steering wheel controls adaptor PAC SWI-PS already. Also we would like to know where the amplifier for the factory trunk-mounted sub is located. Thanks, Bastian Edited October 26, 2009 by blumi
wkevingossett
Any time you switch out the headunit you need adapters and wiring harnesses, etc. Either of those adapters look like they should work. When installing the PAC SWI-PS be sure to mount the adapter somewhere so that it isn't rattling around; your controls will go in and out intermittingly
end
I can't verify if it's actually necessary to keep the RSE running, but I can tell you my harness has the same RSE feature and mine still works. I bought an incredibly expensive Metra AXXESS (sp?) one. The Pac versions at the time, were missing a couple features like the ability to adjust rear/front fade. securinu
you dont absolutely need it but it does make it much easier. Plus it gives you VSS, Dimmer , Back Up etc. We have a harness just for the dvd retention.
