rdonchann
SEL+, wheels, awd, nav, roof rack, cargo management, Blaze Copper paint. This morning I got an e-mail from Ford. They just started a promotion for a $50.00 gift card if you test drive one. You can combine that with $500.00 bonus cash if you buy one. I got both. It came just in the nick of time before I took delivery. SWEET!

rdonchann
An 04 Avalanche. It was a nice ride only had 50k but was looking for fuel economy. I don't see any relief in sight for fuel prices. I read a few places where people whine about the EDGE mpg and I laugh. They have no idea. Most of it is because people don't realize the mpg is a compilation of figures since the last time it was reset. If you are taking a highway trip, reset it, then you will get your highway mpg. Anyway, last new Ford I owned was in 1981. It hurt me so bad it has taken me 26yrs to get up the nerve to try another. I think the EDGE is one of the most innovative designs Ford has come up with in a long time.
Former Ford ZM
That is great to hear! Thank you for your consideration and purchase of a Ford Edge! Another thing, and this is the key thing, it's all in how you DRIVE a vehicle. I've been tagging along with a mentor in my new job. He's driving an F-150 5.4L V8. I was with him Tuesday when he got gas. He did a manual miles driven over gallons filled and got just a hair over 21MPG! I was like "ARE YOU EFFING SERIOUS?!?" Then today we fill up again, 20.4 MPG! How did he do it? Never went around speeding on the highway, guy was literally like 2 MPH over the limit at any time. Stuck to the right hand lane, and excelerated lightly (not grandpa like, but smoothly and quietly). Thing is, I later had to go make the same trip we did a day before. I went in my Milan, tearing up the road, passing whenever I could, speeding and what do you know, I shaved off less than 10 minutes than when I road with him during my 4+ hour trip. My fuel economy, 23.2 MPG
DJ Starr
I think people who take issue with the mileage should also put their history of speeding and other driving citations in their sig lines. Perhaps then we could get a real idea of what to expect. I will start with mine.
rdonchann
When fuel prices are up I try to stay 5 under posted limit. It makes a world of difference! At 70 the Avalanche I just traded in would do about 16mpg. At 65 it would do 18.8 to me, 2.8 mpg for 5 mph is a big difference. If we are driving 4 hours to the lake, the guy running 70 will get there 15-20 minutes before I do. That gives him time to unload the ice chest and get out the chairs so all I have to do is set down and enjoy it all. I also saved 11.2 gallons of fuel and $27.44 in the process. The efficiency of most vehicles peak at 55-60 mph. Every 5 mph after that costs you big for getting there just a few minutes quicker. You also see a lot of things that you will miss when you are white knuckled, jumping lanes and driving 80. No I am not 70 yrs old and don't care anymore. I am 42 and think if people would slow it down by just a few mph their life would be a lot more enjoyable. Since I am on this rant. My Avalanche would go to our house at the lake on 2/3 of a tank using the 5 under rule. If I pushed the limit and maybe went over some of the time I have to fill up when I get there because I am running on fumes. When I drive 5 under I usually have enought fuel left to run around the 3-4 days that we spend there. That 25-30 bucks I saved can be used for important things like steaks to grill, cold drinks and fuel for the jet skis. I am just dying to take the Edge on a road trip over there! rdonchann
It came in an e-mail. I had requested info by e-mail on the Edge right about the time that it came out. Then later on (the day before I took delivery) I received the e-mail telling me to print it and take it to the dealer. A test drive was good for a $50.00 gift card and if I bought to give the e-mail to the dealer for 500 bonus cash. It said the e-mail was sent since I had expressed an interest earlier. Edgy Girl
I have a buyer lined up for my 2001 Solara - just waiting for my Edge to arrive.. Making the big leap from coupe to CUV - initially thought I would get a RAV4 (its boring looking and too rinky dink - although a great vehicle), really like the look of the CX-7 - but 4 banger that has a rated MPG like the Edge at premium gas - sounds like bankruptcy to me... So.. and since my bro works at Ford (A Plan price) - i chose the edge.. but fell in love with it when I drove it.. now.. anything else looks ordinary... the funny.. my office is located at the QEW - and occasionally - like 5 times this week - I saw Edges loaded up on trucks going west - Sighs.. at least 3 week wait for me... but by then.. the sun will be out.. and the BAMR in full use.. rdonchann
The offer was U.S. There isn't any place to sign up for it on the US site either. They just sent it to people that were on their list wanting info on them.
