bigbird
If anyone has seen the new V6, how difficult will routine maintenance (oil and filter changes) be? Where's the location of the oil filter? Can one access it from the front without jacking?
Former Ford ZM
Didn't crawl under to see where the drainplug is. But did see the oil filter. Should be fairly easy to maintain I think. The transmission is not sealed, you will have a dipstick to check on it. However, I will check to see what the DIYer experience will be like next week when I'm back to work. Unfortunately I couldn't keep the Edge over the weekend.
Former Ford ZM
You're fine, you can see and access the filter very easily. That's the lower side of the front of the vehicle.
LIFE IS GOOD
Routine maintenance should be fine.....But wait till you have too change an alternator. You will either have to remove the whole front end or drop the engine.. For the DIYER this means removing the front end. I sure hope this generation of Alternator's are of good quality.. robertlane
That's not too bad , from what I understand you have to remove the cab of the 2008 Super Duty trucks for engine work.

07 MKX
Wait til you have to change plugs in the rear bank. That means the intake manifold has to come off, to get access to the plugs.
