brucknerdoc
Hello - I have a 2008 MKX with THX Nav system. I'm planning on changing the headunit with a Pioneer AVIC Z110BT. Reading thru the posts on this forum, I've found most of what I need to know to proceed. However, I'm still unclear about a couple of issues. I want to maintain my Sirius. Do I need to purchase new Pioneer Sirius modules and replace the antenna - can I connect the factory antenna to new Pioneer modules - or can I connect the existing factory Sirius to the new headunit directly? Since I connect my iPod thru the center console USB, do I need to purchase a new Pioneer ipod adapter - or does the existing wiring for the center console aux and usb inputs input into the connectors on the Pioneer? Thanks for any help!
mguzzipilot
You don't need to buy a new cable to listen to and control your iPod, but you might if you want to view video from the iPod on your head unit. Otherwise, you can connect the iPod with the same USB cable that you use to connect it to a PC. The wires for the USB and AUX in that are in your console terminate on the other end behind the factory radio in a Ford specific plug, not a male USB and male 3.5mm aux plug, so some sort of adapter is needed. I bought one from Metra for the Aux in, but it didn't work. Also, the Pioneer 'probably' has a 4 pole 3.5mm aux in (Audio AND video - same as an iPod) and the factory ford Aux in jack is only 3 pole (stereo audio only)... Not sure on the Sirius ant. question...
wkevingossett
You'll need an adapter for the Sirius but i believe you can still use the stock antenna

securinu
yes this is what you need . we do these all the time for the dealers and we stock them http://www.peripheralelectronics.com/ select your car then scroll down to fordah The FORDAH is an essential installation accessory for select 2005-Up Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles with MSCAN Data bus radios. Using this interface will enable factory features such as rear seat entertainment (RSE), rear seat controls (RSC) and the premium amplified systems , and even THXII data controlled digital amplified systems when the original radio is removed. Other features include data bus driven retained accessory power (RAP), vehicle speed sensor (VSS), illumination, reverse output, parking brake outputs for an easy navigation or non-navigation radio installations. There’s also a 5 volt data controlled regulated amp turn on for factory installed subwoofers and other vehicle key features that would otherwise be lost. The FORDAH also works with Peripherals line of steering wheel control interfaces (PESW series) for most aftermarket radios. The PESW series line of interfaces will allow the SWC to control your aftermarket radio.

brucknerdoc
Thanks - It looks like this doesn't support Sirius - at least that's what it reads from the website info. Is there something that allows the factory Sirius to be retained?
securinu
not if you replace the headunit. no aftermarket will work if you change the headunit.
