matt_edm
Hey guys, I have looked and looked but I can’t find an answer for my problem, there’s a lot of conflicting information out there. There seem to be a few people on here that sound like they know what they’re talking about. I have a 2009 Ford Edge SEL with Sirius and Sync. I have already replaced my Factory 6 Disc Changer with the new 2009 Sony Navigation system that normally comes in the 2009 Edge Limited. I installed the head unit and I had to wire in a 4 channel amp because the 6 disc changer had it built in and the 2009 Sony navigation unit does not. I also installed a GPS antenna that I found on ebay and that made the GPS work. Everything works the way it should except for a few things that half work. My first Problem 3 buttons on my steering wheel do not work anymore the Sync button, the phone button and the OK button. I read somewhere that I have to replace the steering wheel controls with a different one, but I don’t know if that is correct is the steering wheel control different on the 09 models with navigation then in the 2009 models with the 6 disc changer? The phone button on the Nav system still allows me to use my phone just not the one on the steering wheel and my Ipod and works fine, the mic works fine for phone calls. My other problem is when I push the radio button there is no Sirius on the menu there is only AM and FM, I thought that it may not show up until I lengthened the cable from the Factory Sirius module located in the back with the spare tire. So I got an extension cable and this did not help I still don’t have Sirius on my menu. Could this require programming or maybe I need to call Sirius to activate it before it appears (though I’m pretty sure even if you don’t pay for Sirius you should still be able to get channel 184 the weather channel). If anyone knows where I can find these answers please point me in the right direction, I miss being able to talk to my ipod and it sucks to have to pull over every time I need to enter an address apparently if I get those buttons to work I can say the address while i’m driving. Thanks in advance! Matt -Edmonton
Tanjima
Not sure what you mean by having to lengthen the SIRIUS cable from the back. I believe SIRIUS will not work until the new nav unit is configured - needs Dealer tools or you can send it out to a radio shop. For the 3 switches that don't work you on the right track but have a ways to go yet - sorry I cannot be more specific on a public board.
