subwoofer help

Recommended Posts

I have found quite a few factory subwoofers available on ebay to go in the edge. my 2009 sel does not have the sub but has the 6 disc in dash h/u and sync - if I buy one and pop the trim panel, will there already be wiring connections there to plug into or would I have to have the whole thing rewired?

i believe that you will need to wire it in. It may not work with the current radio you have

You need a specific type of amp, and tapp some wire behind the main unit. I'm not a specialist but had it done on other fords with no problem . Sound Quality remaind better than i expected although not quite up to pre-amp connections.

With that setup, all functions of the main radio work normally.

I can get you the info if you want..

Rash, that would be great if you could get me the info. My understanding is that the subwoofer comes with the amp already pre-mounted.

Hey guys, I just bought a factory take off Edge subwoofer for an 07 Edge with the standard stereo. I popped off the back trim panel and the wiring was already there. So I hung the sub and amp (they are connected together) and verified all wiring was connected and the fuses were installed. I got nothing. So I'm now wondering if the standard head unit (6 disc in dash) isn't programmed to power the sub. Using my multimeter, the sub has 12v power but no signal is coming from the head unit. I'm now stuck. Any ideas?

Thanks

There are two types of head unit, one has 2 connectors (no sub output) and the 2nd type has 3 connectors and the smallest connector out of the 3 is the sub enable line and sub output.

If you do not have the head unit with the 3rd connector you cannot make the sub work, if you have the 3rd connector then the unit has to be configured to subwoofer on, it would not have been previously configured on since you had no sub.

Mine has the "3" connectors and I verified that it is plugged in. So it sounds like I need to have my head unit "configured" to turn the sub on. How do I do that? Can it be a do-it-yourself project or a trip to the Ford Dealer?

Thanks--Mike
