BlazedUp
I too find it hard to believe that the Ford recommended fluid change of the trans fluid is at 150,000 miles !!! I will be changing my trans fluid at 50,000 to reduce the accumulation of debris on the filter. 150,000 miles is a lot of accumulated debris on an apparent "unserviceable" filter. It can be changed, but who wants to tear a tranny apart to change a filter. Besides the filter will last at least until the extended warranty runs out

One says 150K is no problem and the other says to get the fluid changed every 30k. Both say there is no reason to change the filter. It's not like an oil filter. If it gets enough stuff on it to cause problems with fluid flow then the tranny is already toast. I'm not even sure it was ever really "necessary" to change the filter on older trannys either, but it was so easy to do with the pan off that it was done automatically. Or maybe newer transmissions have less stuff to filter.
akirby
Hey Kirb...did you happen to find out the rational for basically making the filter inaccessible? This one does puzzle me a bit...are the clutches in the tranny now made differently than years past? If so (no metal coming off of them), I can maybe better understand...this one just boggles my mind. Thx. The rationale is that there's not enough debris under normal operation to ever clog up the filter. If you have that much debris it's time for a new tranny.
