ClaytonM
I want to put an "Oh Sh!t" handle on the driver side of my Edge...where can I get one? I'm guessing I should call my dealership and have them order me one? Thanks for any help...
Grey
Right - drill down through the passenger air bag to secure the grab bar to the instrument panel. Go to plan "B".
Lex Talionis
search around here, it has been covered. as Grey said, you could destroy your airbag potential if you put one on the passenger side dash - like my 1974 FJ40 has - or even on the A pillar of the driver. AND, assuming you could, it would be hard to brace and tie into something solid to where it would do what it is suppose to do.
akirby
Why would you need one on the driver's side?
igcitng
Any time you have an oh s*** moment while driving, seriously, your hands should be on the steering wheel.
Lex Talionis
Why would you need one on the driver's side? I think he meant, for the drivers side, the A pillar or roof mounted one. whereas, I have always known the oh shiznit handle to be on the passenger side on the dash. igcitng
The one on the passenger side used to be normal, AKA the Jesus Bar. My Blazer had one above the passenter airbag. ClaytonM
Why would you need one on the driver's side? I'm talking about the handle that is located right above the window. Their is one on the passengers side, but not one on the drivers....and I need it because I use it alot, especially when getting in and out of my car . I am in a wheelchair and I break my wheelchair apart and put it in my backseat/passenger seat. I had a 2 door coupe for 5 years before this and it had one on both sides. I had to get my old drivers side one reinforced because I use it alot and with alot more weight than usual. It helps me get in and out, and I also use it unloading my chair. You could have said that to begin with...... The trick is not interfering with the side airbags. A pillar might work - check with the dealer to be sure there's nothing in that area. Then it's just a matter of finding one that will fit.
igcitng
So what would be the difference between the sides that one has a bar and the other does not? Is the airbag setup different for the driver? Stylin' Trucks is a truck mod site. Maybe a call to them? Also, the people modifying your controls, etc should know something about this shouldn't they? Sounds like something a lot of people would need in that situation.
