DJ Nap
My daughter noticed this "hole" in the upperside BAMR shade material today. Anyone seen/had/have this?
j_hack
To me it kinda looks like an accident happened... Maybe your daughter noticed it after she caused it? Sounds like something my daughter would do to me!
DJ Nap
she'd have to be quick and crafty, as far as I could tell, it was on the side that faces the fixed roof!
j_hack
Maybe something got hung up when you were putting it retracting it? I wonder how much that would cost to repair or maybe it would be covered under warranty hopefully? If you still are I assume under warranty. igcitng
That is a very weird tear. Jagged on one side and not on the other, nothing matches up. It looks more like a hole blown in it than a tear. Could it have burned or melted from heat?
Lex Talionis
wow.. that almost looks like a bad Photochop job also, it seems, if you look real close, it almost seems like there is a vague outline - like a repair outline - of a slightly different color right around that hole. can you see that? igcitng
The outline is what makes me wonder if it burned in the sun. Bad repair is a good thought too, like the patch fell off. If it was bought new that would be lame!
DJ Nap
I'll have to stand on the rear tire and look down from the top. I don't think the heat would have done it, although the temp in the sun right now, as I type, is 109.8. I agree that it is an odd shape for "flaking" material. It would be nearly impossible for someone to do that to the back side of that shade..so being covered under warranty should not be a problem. If they do give me a problem, well, they won't. DJ Nap
UPDATE : The dealer sent an image to Ford's DI dept and they refused to correct. They told my Service Manager that it could have been caused by a chemical that was sprayed on the liner. C'mon, really? The only thing that has ever touched that liner in the past year and a half is water. Filtered, spot-free water at that. Why wouldn't the whole liner be affected if I was incorrectly cleaning it? The liner on the interior side feels water proof, like a backpack. The other side is felt. The Mrs. is NOT happy and will be on the phone w/ Ford tomorrow. $748 to replace....
