pricetag2
I just did the first oil change on our 2008 Limited at 3300 miles. When I looked at the oil filter from the bottom, I could see a small drop of oil as if from a small leak. When I tried to remove the oil filter it was really on tight. I finally used a pipe wrench (big one!) to get it moving. Do you think it was over tightnend at assembly to stop a leak? I didn't need to over tighten the new one and it doesn't leak. Hi pricetag. :D No, not likely. Over tightening of the oil filters at the factory seems to be a relatively common problem nowadays. Most likely yours was accidentally overtightened like the rest. Good luck. :beerchug:

I picked up my used '08 a couple of months ago. A day or so later I noticed a drip or two on the driveway. I finally took a look and found that the filter had never been tightened. It was at least on thread away from fully contacting the block. Thank goodness that I found it (both for the dealership and for me!)
