Ali_23077
Hello everyone, I have a Ford Edge SEL 3.5L AWD 2014, now driven 106,000 kms, I am wondering if it is better to change the spark plugs and drive belt now, the owner manual mentioned every 160k for spark plugs and only inspect the drive belt every oil change. Under special operating conditions section it is mentioned to change it every 96k kms. I live in Dubai and weather temperature exceeds 50 degrees celsius. I am the second owner and previous owner doesn’t remember if he changed the spark plugs or drive belt before or not.
enigma-2
Might be a good idea to have a mechanic pull one of the easy to get to plugs on the front of the engine as see what they look like. Its important to change the plugs on or before. Accessory belts can be examined easily, I've got 140 miles and still good. Don't think its necessary to change preempt. More important in hot climate to change the transmission fluid on regular basis. PTU annually as well (if you have AWD.)
garycrist
On my 2008 Edge 3.5L, I replace the spark plugs about every 75K miles. 210K miles now and I should inspect the OE belts.🤣🤣
enigma-2
Have you done the water pump & timing chain yet?

The Aux belt, tensioner and idler I did at around 100K miles - based on the condition of mine that that mileage I'd say you're safe to go 150K miles, but recommend the kit, belt tensioner and idler. 1 hour ago, enigma-2 said: Have you done the water pump & timing chain yet? Yes, on this engine the water pump is critical.
