Perspective
Good evening, I have a 2015 Ford Edge 2.0 with 143k miles on it. I am currently having no issues with it but am wondering if anyone has suggestions on proactive replacement. I have only experienced a water pump failure once in my lifetime and it was a sudden failure to overheat on an old Ford Fusion. Overheated, towed home, and replaced. All my other cars I have replaced the pump and thermostat when the radiators failed and I had to drain the coolant anyway. Those vehicles were jeeps and the water pumps looked brand new inside. I guess I’m curious if Ford Edge water pumps leak at failure or if they are sudden, catastrophic failures with overheat? Is there a symptomatic warning that will buy some time? I really don’t want to risk having an overheat on this little engine but not really feeling like changing it in the winter. Maybe I am answering my own question. It appears to be really tight on the water pump side. Is it a difficult task? Any special tips?
Wubster100
I do not see the water pump listed in the scheduled maintenance.
