Transmission issues and acceleration issues

Hey guys, I got a 2016 ford edge sel w the 2.0 ecoboost engine,  Its recently given me fits and wont run correctly.  I switched the vvt solenoids for intake and exhaust bc thats the only codes its thrown at all.   they were both gunked up REALLY bad (thanks previous owner for not changing the oil on time.) and since then the CEL has not come back on.  That all being said, its been behaving weirdly (even before the repair) while driving.   If i put it into "D" and just try to drive like normal it will not upshift at all unless i hit the upshift paddle. When this occurs the acceleration is basically non existant.  you can put the pedal to the floor and will barely keep up with traffic accelerating at normal speeds.   if you let off the gas and then go back to the gas it seems to drop down into 3rd gear and will near redline the tach unless you quickly shift up again with the paddle.

No more codes, everything looks fine, it literally started this like 3 days ago.   now its nearly undriveable on the road unless you're doing no more than say 50mph and you dont mind manual shifting it the entire time.  I wouldnt DARE put it on the hightway bc it literally acts like it cannot accelerate at all.

Any help would be appreciated.
