Software update or something?

Recommended Posts

Observation only...I think my 22 Edge SEL did an update overnight or something, when I started it this morning, there was something on the screen that went away pretty quick, then I noticed the seat belt chime was annoyingly louder than normal and the red seat belt light looked brighter and the check backseat tone was also louder than normal when I shut the vehicle off.

Any other indicators of a weak battery? If the chime is no longer coming from the sound system but from the instrument cluster that sometimes can be the first indicator of a battery issue. I would get that, then I would get no auto start/stop, and the radio turning off with battery saver message trying to sit and listen to the radio with the engine off.

Thank you for the replies.  I'll pay closer attention to where to chime is coming from, it did sound local to the dash area and not the sound system, but no signs of a battery issue, been starting and running fine and radio plays a while when not running the engine.  Still under bumper to bumper, only 24,000 miles on it.  I have to take it in for the purge valve or something fuel related since it has started dying and rough idling after gassing up now.

Turns out it was a failing battery.  I replaced the battery in mine yesterday, it was getting all kinds of battery save messages popping up on Fordpass and the infotainment screen.  Radio would shut off as soon as the vehicle was shut off, etc...  After the battery swap, all chimes are back to what they were prior, nothing over amplified now like before, no more shutting down to save power message.  I wonder if this has been the issue with my back up camera being inop when powered on and radio not coming on when starting the vehicle.  I placed a volt meter on the battery and pressed the Start button to play radio and the voltage reading went from 12.5V-ish to lower 11V in seconds.  Battery was only 26 mos old.  Engine running voltage to battery is 14.5+.
