Black screen of death

Wife had a dead battery out of the blue. No issues prior, just dead in a parking lot one day.

I jumped it, started fine.

 

Then noticed the black screen of death. Radio plays, you can skip through to stations using the manual buttons on the dash. Same with the heat. Just the screen was black. 

 

Wife wanted a new battery anyway, replace it. No change to the radio of course. I tried pulling fuse 29 for 15 min. didn't help.

 

Got a new screen and APIM (The sync2 to sunc3 upgrade kit) didn't help.

 

What else could it be. Screen itself is black even after replacement. I know it's getting power since the radio still makes sound.

For anyone else that has this issue, to archive the solution:
I brought it to a car stereo repair place and they bench tested it. The display still did not come on for them.

I then reset the cable between the APIM and the screen. It's a blue and yellow cable. It now works.

What did you mean when you said that you "reset" the cable ...". 

 

Wiggled the connector or ..?

 

Could it be that you disconnected power to the APIM and "rebooted" it?

I disconnected the cable and then connected it back on. When the assembly came to me, it was all connected already, so didn't think to check if they had it connected on all the way.
