2016 Edge requires new wheel hub to replace broken stud?

Recommended Posts

I have a broken wheel stud passenger rear side. I replaced a broken stud a few years back on a windstar and basically punched the stud out and tapped new one back in, 30 minutes.

I was getting lazy and asked a garage to do it and they say the 2016 Ford Edge sel requires the hub to replaced as there is no room to replace stud.

I highly doubt that and will probably just do the job myself this weekend but can anyone confirm this? Thx ahead.

I feel like columbo here…. 1 last question. The mechanic is stating hub removal basically requires new bearings…

I just remember on the windstar it was as simple as rotating the hub to open backing that had room for it to be punched out and inserted.

Regardless of this Wheel Hub's AWD descriptor, using the VIN of a 2016 FWD Edge on Ford's parts-selling website resolves it as fitting FWD also...

Perhaps the following high-resolution (1500 x 1500) FordParts-linked images can reconcile your question with the Mechanic's comment...

Good luck!

I had to have a rear stud replaced on my 2010 SE. They were able to remove the parking brake assembly, cut off part of the stud and then punch it out.

Just for fun ...

In as much as they didn't remove the hub, and they had to cut the broken stud off to get enough room to remove it; how did they get the new one on?
