275/40/21 tires

The car was originally avaliable with 265/40R21's. The only difference is that the 275 is 10 millimeters wider than the 265 tire.

 

Both tires have the same aspect ratio (40) and rim diameter (21"), meaning they will have the same overall height and will fit the same wheel size.

 

So it comes down whether a tire 1/2" wider will fit. My -guess- is yes, but I've been wrong before.

There is a difference in the circumference (height) of these sizes. Aspect ratio is the percentage of the sidewall versus the tire width. Rim diameter only means that a tire will fit the rim. In the specific case above, the 275's are 8 mm taller, 10 mm wider and will revolve 7 times less per mile which will cause a slight speedometer error.
