Carhopper
My wife and I have both been hit in the head by this Liftgate while trying to unload or load groceries. You can completely disable the electric liftgate in the settings in the instrument cluster, but then the door becomes very difficult to operate. Also, it disables all switches and the remote control too. I called Ford and like always they never call back. I decided to take a look in the rear bumper and found the sensor shown here on the passenger side. It has 3 plugs, 2 small outer and one large center. If you unplug either or both of the outer plugs the foot control stops working. I left the center one plugged in so the ECU continues to see it working. This worked, all other switches still work and no CEL or error so far.
saile888
It might be a good idea to keep an eye on the situation. If the problem ever reappears or you notice any strange behaviors, it might be worth having the sensor or electrical system checked by a professional. In the meantime, I hope this will make your loading and unloading much safer! 192.168.100.1 192.168.1.1 Edited November 4 by saile888
