2013 Edge brake problems

My mechanic says I need an ABS control module that costs over $900 if it were available. Mine is equipped with adaptive cruise control and my question is, how would I know if a junk yard car has adaptive cruise? Will decoding the VIN tell if it has ACC? TIA.

Yes the VIN will confirm if it has ACC.

 

If it were me, I'd make sure that there's an arrangement in place with "my mechanic" that he would carry the cost of the replacement module if it was not the solution to the problem.

Well, someone can look up by VIN the build sheet to see how it is equipped, but no part of the VIN can be decoded to show it has ACC. You can try inputting it into parts.ford.com to see if it gives you the part number you need for the correct part for having ACC, I have done that in the past to be able to get the right upgraded brake parts (larger rotors, brackets, and calipers).

You can the AsBuilt data from the VIN to figure out if it has ACC. Although this is a more advanced method.
