Pbear74
The ac compressor on my 2011 ford edge needs to changed and when I took it in to the mechanic they wouldn’t do the job because the bracket for rear bolt is broken. I’ve attached a picture from a YouTube video for reference. The yellow box is the part and the red line is where it broke off. Is there anything that can be done? edjunior
My guess is no. Since that is attached to the block, it looks like replacement of the block is the only fix. I had a similar issue with my son's Nissan Altima. One of the mounting spots for the belt tensioner pulley broke off, and the mechanic wouldn't touch it. It really sucked, the engine otherwise ran great. But it was a lost cause.
Pbear74
The two bolts on the front of the compressor are fine, and frankly I do not know how long it has been like this. Is there any reason to worry about it falling off? I am going to have to replace the compressor myself at this point if i want the ac to work again. 1004ron
A service shop might consider installing the compressor with a written waiver that they bear no responsibility for anything that goes wrong. It's hard to predict the long-term outcome operating it without the third mount. A creative fabricator might be able to make a bracket that secures to a different location. Looks like you've got nothing to lose giving it a try without the third mount.
