STBEAST
I have a 2024 Edge St. To initiate 'calm screen' I have to go through 3 moves (settings, general and then calm screen). Does anyone know if there is a calm screen shortcut. I have seen it on other Ford vehicles but not the Edge. Anybody know if there is? Such a great feature to have, just a pain in the neck to activate, especially when driving. Thanks

STBEAST
Anyone know if there is a shortcut?
Wubster100
It gets annoying to have to jump through multiple menus. Once I get to the calm screen, I have even got a few phone connection notifications pop up.
Wubster100
I don't think a shortcut will be possible. We may have to wait for future SYNC updates to give us a shortcut. These are the only options I can find: https://cyanlabs.net/asbuilt-db/sync4-apim/?search=List%20Browser%20(LB)#database Edited July 24, 2024 by Wubster100
enigma-2
Have you tried pressing and holding the volume knob? Works on some cars. If it works, it takes 2-3 seconds to activate. I have a hard button on my 2009 MKX for this. Never use it personally. 1
STBEAST
I've tried it and it does not work. I think I have tried everything I can think of. It's such a great feature. too bad it's not easy to get to.
enigma-2
Try pressing and holding the volume knob while simultaneously rotating the volume dial. (This may not work on the Edge.) Seems like Ford could enable this in a future software update. . Edited July 27, 2024 by enigma-2
Wubster100
I tried to press my volume knob in, and it only turn the media on/off. I also tried twisting it at the same time. The silver ring on the outside of the volume button only twists, but it does not push in. When I turned the volume button and pushed it in, the volume would just increase/decrease, then the media would turn off. It isn’t like other SYNC 4 systems where there is a center knob that you can push in to get to the calm screen. enigma-2
I was looking in other forums. A few stated that it would work (pressing the vol) others said wouldn't. Think they had different radios. Couple (back in 2022 or 2023) said it worked after a software upgrade ( why i mentioned it.) There's probably no way it can be done on your radio. Pressing & holding the volume knob was to only way I've ever read about (other than those radios that had a dedicated knob for it.) The only advantage I've noticed on mine was it makes the interior of the car dark at night. But, I usually leave my navigation running when I'm on the road. (On my Sync 1 system it's called "Display". On/off/status bar.)
STBEAST
Seems crazy to have such a great feature and have to jump through hoops to get to it. Calm screen is genius! I am starting to like it more than all the other screens.
DWare
I know I am late to the party, but any updates? I just purchased a used 2024 Edge Titanium and love it. One of the first things I have tried to figure out is how to get to the Calm Screen without all the fuss of the menus.
Wubster100
Welcome to the forum @DWare, I don’t know of any updates. One thought I have: maybe we can investigate how the physical button of the 15” sync 4 connects.

Tim W. AZ
Off topic a little, but on my 2012 Focus, (probably other models too) there was a series of buttons you could sequence to bring up on the SYNC I screen indicating your geographical location, speed and other info. Does anyone know if that's still possible?

It was a long time ago, but I don't think it was SYNC related, it just displayed there. I mostly remember it displayed mph, GPS location, longitude/latitude, and one or two other things. Been searching for a document that described the sequence and finally found it in the cloud. It wasn't my Focus, it was my 2016 C-Max Energi. With the car off, press the left OK button then with your foot on the brake press start. Hold the OK until ET displays in the top left corner of the left screen. Use the down arrow to cycle through the diagnostic screens. At the fifth screen will be the diagnostic test codes. If there are no codes the screen will be blank. To exit press and hold the left OK button until clear. As I was typing, I thought the above might be something different, but I was too far in to abandon the effort. I'm going to see if this does anything on my 2020 Edge.

enigma-2
Don't know if this is the same diagnostics, but you can also access the hidden diagnostics menu by pressing and holding the SIG button on the steering wheel and dashboard at the same time. (The radio needs to set to an FM or AM station.) Once in the menu, you can run tests and change settings.
