JRob
We bought a 2018 Ford Edge (Titanium) last year. It came with 21-inch rims. They were already scuffed up a bit. Tire size is 265/40 R21 105W. I hit a pothole and the rim that took the impact cracked. I'd like to switch to smaller rims. I want to go as small as 18-inch rims. It's my understanding that Ford Edge can have rims as small as 17-inch. But, one tire shop told me that he wouldn't go any smaller than 19-inch rims on that vehicle. I know that when the tire size changes, it can mess with the speedometer/odometer. I've tried researching this online and I just can't get a clear answer. Basically, I need to tell the tire shop what I need without sounding like a total fool. How do I reduce the rim size without changing the tire size? Is there any risk or concern putting 18-inch or 19-inch rims on a 2018 Ford Edge Titanium? Any other concerns on changing rim size to 18s or 19s? GTEyes
It comes in lower trims with 18 inch rims and your trim level doesn't have any major differences when it comes to hardware around the wheels (brakes). Since it comes OEM with 18 inch rims, just use any tire site to see what that size is. You should be good!

But with the new tires on smaller rims, I need to make sure the tire diameter doesn't change, right? Because that's what messes with the speedometer. There are sites that can take the details of your OEM setup, and you can input your proposed rim and tire sizes and it will tell you if you will have speedo issues. It's a great tool. I used it when spec'ing my winter tire setup on my previous CX5 and Mazda6s. https://www.calculator.net/tire-size-calculator.html
edgeidiot
Yes, I am the old tire salesman. The closest match to the diameter of the 265/40R21 currently on your vehicle in an 18-inch rim is a 245/60R18 which is coincidentally the stock tire on other Edge trims. You did not say whether you are going to buy OEM or aftermarket rims. OEM Rims should cost around $200 and up at online Ford dealers (ymmv). I have attached the nerd specs. garycrist
Call the local recycling yard have them look for take-offs (wheels and tires).
