Do 2011 tail lights fit a 2010

Recommended Posts

I did a search on the forum ad nothing came up.

Do 2011 tail lights fit on a 2010. I am looking to have amber turn signals. I know the electrical hook up is another thing.

I just want to know if the physical fit is the same.

Thanks

Physically, they probably fit, but they will require some electrical modification. I don't know what.

As Gen1 Edge (2007-2010) have a single bulb for the Turn signal & brake (all red). While Gen 1.5 Edge (2011-2014) have separate bulbs for Turn signal (amber) & brakes (red).

(Just kidding about the former, but serious about the latter.)

Hi Haz, any chance you’d be able to send these documents to me? Looks like they’re no longer working.

Thanks guys. Looks like I will have to use the third brake light to feed the red bulbs in the 2011. And run turn signal wires from the front.

Hodgie, I did exactly this for my lights but I got a hyper flash since I’m no longer using the rear turn signal/stop bulb wire. How did you go about fixing this?

Use resistors in place of the missing bulb, or if the turn signals are controlled by a microcontroller in the BCM, then you could use FORScan to fix it.

I tried that. Even wired a dummy bulb in place for the missing bulb. For some reason as soon as I connect the wire tapped from the front turn signals to power the rears, it begins to hyper flash. I’m wondering if it’s too much current for the front bulbs making it act as if a bulb is burned out. Mine is a 2010, Am I able to use ForScan on it?

@MDrumm03: The 2010 Workshop Manual indicates enabling/disabling hyperflash is programmable in the Smart Junction Box, via As-Built data in Line 726, with emphasis added...

  Module Configuration and Parameter Chart

Reprogram/ Flash Capable

Requires Adaptive Learning or Calibration

Available Programmable Parameters

Smart Junction Box (SJB)

Yes

  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System  (TPMS) sensor training
  • Autolock
  • Auto-unlock
  • Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
  • Global open
  • Perimeter lighting mode
  • Stop lamp outage enable/disable
  • Tire placard pressure

Hopefully, Forscan will allow the change via its menu of modifications, rather than you having to manually edit your Edge's Line 726 As-Built values to disable hyperflash.

Good luck!

So I’m finishing up now. I ended up going to the auto parts store and buying two relays. I’m using the wires tapped from the front turn signals to pull the coils on the relays, and then I ran a separate 12v power from the battery to power the signals. It works perfect. I wired two load resistors to the un uses turn/stop wire in the taillights so I don’t get hyper flash. Tapped into the third brake light to get my brake signal for the new lights. Everything works great as long as the relays and resistors hold up. What an absolute nightmare. I would suggest to anyone else to just buy a 2011 + lol
