Looking for a package for my Edge

Recommended Posts

I've been reading most of the threads in here already regarding the aftermarket tow packages. I've followed several links that are either broken links, or not the same prices as when the links were put up.

Can anyone tell me a few decent dealers where I can get a tow package for my 08 Edge. I appreciate it a lot. Thanks.

I went to my local (quality) RV dealer. He ordered 2" receiver hitch (Reese $175), installed it with electronic brake (had to run new wires) for $666 total.

My edge did have trailer package, 1" receiver. Had to cut off factory hitch. Took all day.

Factory trailer package is essential, read about 'heavy duty' engine parts at Ford.

Went to Uhaul first, they gave me zero confidence in anything.

RV dealers are expert with hitches and brake control hook-ups - they need to be in order to sell campers.

Yes, I paid a lot. My priority when towing is not to worry about ANYTHING going wrong. 7,000 pounds at 60 mph is enough to worry about. Plus, I'll have somebody to sue if the hitch or trailer brakes fail.

What I DON'T like is poor ground clearance with 2" receiver - 11". Looking for a way to raise back end 1-2". Any ideas?

See photo.
