atrdriver
I have a 2011 Edge with the 3.5L V6 and neither cooling fan is running, either with the AC in MAX or when the car gets up to normal temp. This is obviously causing it to try to overheat when the car is not moving, and the AC doesn't blow very cold unless the car is in motion. I know the fans fail, and the controller sometimes fails. Question is in troubleshooting. I will have to take part of the air box off to get to the connector for the fan controller, but when I have it off I assume that I should have 12V going to the controller? And then have 12V coming out of the controller would tell me that it is good and it's just the fans that have failed? If I don't have 12V, assuming that I should, going to the controller, what should I look for upstream of it? I have no issue replacing the parts, but I don't really want to spend money for the fun of it Thanks in advance, and if I'm incorrect about that could you let me know what I should be looking for? atrdriver
Thanks for the references. My fan controller only has 1 out that splits to both fans. When I looked at it I didn't have any power going in to the controller. So in frustration I gave the top of the fuse block a thump and the fans both came on. Now it is intermittent, sometimes they run as they should and sometimes they don't. And further messing with the fuse block don't seem at have any effect. Any ideas? Also, looking at the wiring diagram, I don't see any input from the PCM to the fan controller on the vehicle. I have a 2 wire input and a 2 wire output to the fans, and that is all that I see. Pat cochran
2011 ford edge. My cooling fans work if I bypass the signal wire at plug into controller. Is it something in the controller or something signalling the controller. Not sure how that grounding out works. Which part grounds out the signal? Steves24
I have a 2011 Ford Edge. The cooling Fans don't come on. I replaced the Fan control and they still don't come on. Replaced the 60 Amp Bussman fuse. Still no luck. When I power the fans from the batter they come on. Any suggestions?

omar302
On these older Gen 1 & 1.5 (2007 to 2014), most of the time fan issues are resolved with a new fan module. It comes as a set, 2 fans and the controller. And always go for Motorcraft because of the many stories of stories on this forum when aftermarket fan modules just don't work correctly.
Pat cochran
If the tempature guage is working on the dash, would that mean it is probably working to tell fans to turn on but controller is not reacting to the signal? That same failure to turn on fan when AC is turned on would apply I assume. That is the easier fix. Its a shame you have to pay arm and a leg for a part that will work( motorcraft) over 1year( I hope)

So if I pay $241.00 for the OEM instead of $28.00 it will work?

Try a search here and Google and you'll find an abundance of reports confirming that none of the 3rd party offerings work - another option would be to take a chance and try another 3rd party unit and report back.
