SammyV
Hi there. Looking buy a used Edge. Thinking of a 2019 or 2020. Likely out of warranty. Any advice on what to look for to tell if it's in good shape and maintained? Any common trouble spots to look for? Test driven 3 so far.'22 but out of my range and I hate the touchscreen. A '20 titanium but clearly needed engine (rough idle) and brake maintenance (bad pulsing, feels like front rotors and calipers). The '19 seemed pretty good, but not sure about one 4 model years old. Any advice appreciated, with any luck I'll be able to join this forum for good Thanks
DistractedDev
A 2019 (and newer) could still have a remaining powertrain warranty, which should be 5 year / 60k miles. If available, check the Carfax (or equivalent) for the in-service date of the vehicle.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
@SammyV nothing grossly wrong with the powertrains in the 2019+ MYs but 1. possible coolant loss due to faulty egr cooler 2. transmission jerking issues that usually can be resolved through programming updates, sometimes need a new torque converter 3. low levels of fluid in the ptu and or rdu from factory 4. the big one to me, faulty of start stop accumulators, which when leaky could possibly cause a fire in any case, highly advise getting the max ford protect warranty (premiumcare if electronics heavy especially) with your purchase or soon after. you can buy from an online ford dealer such as https://www.lombardfordwarrantys.com/ you can also follow along on mact's journey with his 2019 2.0 if you like https://www.youtube.com/@MACTFordEdge/videos Edited October 8, 2023 by WWWPerfA_ZN0W 1

I'm buying a CPO vehicle and I'd like to extend my coverage to the life of the loan. This seems ideal. Of course FL gets shafted on the price, but I've read that there are ways around that problem.
