Lennard Price
Hello, I now own a great condition 2016 Ford Edge SEL and wondering about the head unit and options. The unit only has 4" display with no NAV and wondering if I can use Android Auto etc? I have watched a few youtube videos and I'm at a point I believe the unit needs an update. I'm a computer geek to should have no problem updating but all youtubes point to MYford and after entering my VIN it does say an update is available but clicking on it only lets me select a dealer , NOT a file to USB etc. like all the video's show. I am not sure on version etc. as the only software the sysinfo shows v5.11. I may not have a Android Auto compatible system etc. and I'm just wasting my time. Thank you for any help. Happy new (used) Ford Edge owner
omar302
The 4" does not support Android Auto. If you want it you'll have to upgrade it to the 8" Sync 3.
Lennard Price
Thank you for the quick information, appreciated. Might start looking at the replacement heads on Amazon...
dabangsta
There are DIY ways to install SYNC 3 (gathering the pieces like the screen, apim, center panel, etc), or buy already built systems already configured. I have decent success with SYNC 3 and don't require an aftermarket head unit, but the 9 speaker setup in my 2019 is a bit of a let down
