Beelzebub
Hi everyone, I recently bought a 2021 Edge Titanium, and yes, I'm facing the front camera issue. I start the car, it works fine, but after driving for a bit and slowing down to below 15 kmh, or when in P or D, it just won't turn on. I'm noticing here that an OTA update has fixed the issue, but I still seem to have it. I think I have an old version of Sync 4 (I have 4.0.22028, rev 358). I have automatic updates on and I'm connected to wifi or my phone's hotspot, but there's just no update coming through. Is there any way to solve this issue ? I called Ford's In Vehicle Technology department, but they said there's no update for my VIN yet. Seems strange, because the OTA update that fixed the issue came out sometime in 2022 if I'm not mistaken ?
John S
Yes the update you referr too did fix the problem. You may want to try a reset with Ford Tech support, and be sure you are running the latest software "Ford Power-Up 4.2.4 Edited September 7 by 1004ron
Brockdog12
I took my 22 SEL in Saturday for regular maintenance and they told me there was a PCM recall/update to do with driveability they would go ahead and do while in. I told the service guy that since the last Sync update, I lose my rear camera and sometimes the stereo is off completely when I start it and it takes a good mile or so down the road until it powers on. I showed him pics of the vehicle in reverse with a black screen and no working camera. This has happened at least a dozen or more times. Also the bluetooth is glitchy playing music and using the hands free phone it drops audio and is very choppy.

Update : The dealer updated it to 4.0.22228 rev 539. I think that's version 3.5.3. The front camera works fine now, thankfully, and Alexa is also enabled, along with a few games. Apparently they only do 1 version upgrade in the basic 1.5 hours with the tech guy. Very weird. So if I need to get 4.2.4, I'll have to pay again. Is there any significant advantage to doing so ? Reading somewhere that in 4.2.4, the volume knob works with the climate control, heated seats etc, or is that just for the MachE and the trucks ? Thanks ! The 4.2.4 update provided a way to communicate with Ford by leaving a message utilizing your vehicles microphone. To my knowledge that is all it did. All of the updates I have received have been downloaded by air, and at no cost. 4.2.4 benefits Ford, so I do not see why they would charge for it. If you contact Ford Corp support and tell them you have a technical question regarding 4A they should transfer you a 4A tech. They can do the download as well as the dealer. I would not go so far as to say they could do a major change, but I know they can do some downloads. In fact the update that fixed the front camera was done by air. Just an FYI my vehicle is running Sync 4 Software Version 23159_PRODUCT Revision 915.
enigma-2
I know on my 09 MKX with Sync 1, there was an update that HAD to be performed ata Ford dealership. That p'ed me off and I asked the service desk why. Just another con for getting more money out of me? They said it was because they had to update the Proms in several modules before they could do the software update, and required they to use their computer to connect the Ford and let Ford update those modules. So I said ... "oh", went into the waiting room and drank a cup of coffee, satisfied that I had my way with them.....

Thanks again.
