2013 Edge Subwoofer thump and battery drain

Recommended Posts

Hello, have a 2013 Edge that has a battery drain. When the car is sitting in the driveway, turned off, no key in ignition, you get these periodic subwoofer thumps. They're loud enough to hear in the house. It only does this when the battery starts to get low. I pulled the radio and amp fuses so waiting to see how that goes. My question is how do I de tr ermine e if it's the radio or amp? If the car has no issues for a couple days, I'm going to replace the fuses and unplug the amp. If it co.es back I guess it's the radio. ??? Has anyone had a similar issue?

Thanks

check the battery to make sure it is still healthy. voltage AND cold cranking amps.

is this a factory or aftermarket subwoofer, same for amp. if aftermaket, check the grounds, that's what usually causes the thump.

the problems with radio/battery drain have usually been due to a failing CD player, no grounding issues unless of course something is spilled into the console.

The battery is about 2 weeks old and checks out just fine. Initially I pulled the amp fuse (sound system is all factory) but the radio still worked and she still had the problem so I pulled the radio fuse as well. I think it's been ok since then. You think it's more likely the radio than the amp?

My 2012 Focus Titanium would do something similar. I'd be standing in close proximity of the vehicle and the sub-woofer and all door speakers would go to full volume and give off a massive thump sound.

This happened randomly with no rhyme or reason. The Sony audio system was one of the worst systems ever. Thankfully ford moved on from it.

This was one of many issues the dealer could not replicate. My only recourse was to trade it in.............on equally problematic Acura RDX. ?
