CJ Miller
2007 Edge A/C light comes on but blows outside air/hot air. Used the can to recharge, compressor kicked on and cold was blowing. Ran it for a good hour driving around and worked perfect, but when I turn my car off and turn back on the a/c isnt working again.
ebank
My guess would be that the recharge you put in leaked out the same way as the refrigerant that was in it, try a can of the recharge with the die in it to see where the leak is.
akirby
Or the compressor or some other part is bad.
enigma-2
You could also consider using a leak detector like this one (only $22 & good for R134A). (If you get it, check the Schrader valves, common point for slow leaks. Rubber O-rings dry out). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088QX7M41/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_EPNQ5YQ5JKKGZHNCM7B7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Edited April 1, 2022 by enigma-2
dfreeman332
Or you overcharged the system and when its hot outside or driving around the engine compartment heats up causing the High Pressure switch to trip. When the system stops working see if the AC clutch is engaged if its not the AC High Pressure switch tripped, if the AC works after the car has cooled down or the outside temperature is lower it is definitely over charged. If this is the case get a cheap gauge; on on a refill can will work; with the car running AC on MAX; car doors open bleed low pressure side to between 30 - 35 PSI
enigma-2
Did you find and fix the initial leak? Putting in a can may have only put a band-aid on the problem. Whatever caused to original leak is still leaking. There are several areas where the system can leak. Putting in dye helds locate the area, as well as using a leak detector (above post). But my guess is the can of refrigerant reestablished the pressures and it subsequently leaked out after it sit for awhile. You can’t properly recharge the system by dumping in a can of refrigerant. The existing refrigerant needs to be pumped out and weighed. Then pumped down under a vacuum and held to prove the system is leak tight. Then the proper anount of refrigerant pumped in. (Label on the underside of the hood tells how much). But first, you can't expect the hold a charge until you find the leak(s). Take it in to a professional and get it fixed properly.
