When you say you have a glass roof, I assume you mean the electronic panoramic roof?  If so, there is a thread on this that pinpoints the cause of the rattle that many of us have.  I just fixed mine a week or so ago.  Here's the thread.....

Thank you! Yes, electronic panoramic roof

I have a 2017 with panoramic glass roof. The sunshade rattles when it is in closed position, the rattle is coming from just behind the rear seats, I think from the roller mechanism. Anyone had this issue? Noise goes away if the shade is even slightly opened.

Did you ever find the issue? I have the same ticking/rattle, but it seems to go away when slight pressure is applied to the rolled up sunshade. The noise is less noticeable when the sunshade is at some point between open and closed, and completely gone when the sunshade is fully closed.

Did you try the solution stated in the thread linked above? This one

The dealer had no idea how to fix it. There’s a post in the thread from a while back, where wrapping a Velcro tie strap around a clip on the bar that keeps the shade in place. The bar runs from side to side between the roof and the where the glass panel ends. The clip is located above the passenger side rear seat on the left side (if you’re looking out the back).

It recommended a skinny short one, but I it would come loose over time and the rattle would come back. It’s really hard to get to, so I tried a wider and longer Velcro strap that would be a little stronger. Give it 2 tight wraps around the clip, then wrap it around the bar tightly (like a snake). This helps keep the Velcro in place over the rattling clip. It’s just hard to reach in there and wrap the Velcro, but it’s worth the pain in the a** to do it. Occasionally, I start to hear the rattle again a little bit, but simply pushing the Velcro back towards the clip eliminates the rattle again.

It's been the best fix for the issue and lasts a very long time. I honestly forget that it’s an issue until it slightly comes back. A great fix! I’ll try to find the original post with the first solution and bump it.

My wife has a 2021 Ford Edge ST with the panoramic sunroof. It developed a very annoying squeak over a year ago. Finally got serious about fixing it.

Thought the squeak was coming from the rear hatch. Got back there and rode around. Nope. Then we noticed if you cracked the sun shade a bit the severity of the squeaking was reduced. Searched around the internet and found plenty of content discussing how the seals for the sunroof need to wiped down and lubricated. Did that. Nope.

Was out running errands today and my wife for some reason pushed up on the sun shade. The squeaking was nearly eliminated. Got home and took a good look at the tracks for it. Went and grabbed some 3-in-1 Garage Door dry lubricant and shot it along the tracks it travels in then cycled it 4-5 times. Took the car out and there is zero squeaking.

So if your Edge is cursed with that squeak that kinda sorta sounds like a rattle as well -- get some dry lube aerosol (the kind that comes with an application straw) -- and shoot the lengths of the areas indicated in the photo -- because contrary to popular belief it's not the sunroof that's squeaking -- it's the sunroof shade instead.

Thank you so much for that information. I had a 2021 ST and after about 5000 miles it did the same exact thing! When I would push up on the sunshade or open it the tiniest bit the problem would disappear! So irritating!

I recently traded in for a 2024, but I am sure in time this will happen. Thank you!!!

Thanks EdgeST2020 for the Velcro fix! I have a 23 Edge ST and was having the same issue with squeaking coming from the back of the panoramic moonroof. This seems to have fixed the noise so far - fingers crossed. I had the same issue before turning in my 2019 Edge Titanium.
